Recalls abound, and the latest may be in your medicine cabinet. Over 60,000 bottles of California Gold Nutrition women’s multivitamins, manufactured by iHerb, are being voluntarily recalled due to concerns related to the risk of “child poisoning.”
The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall of three separate California Gold Nutrition women’s supplements on June 26. The recall is specifically for the brand’s Daily Prenatal Multi, Ultamins Women’s Multivitamin, and Ultamins Women’s 50+ Multivitamin.
According to the CPSC, the impacted bottles are white with a white lid and a gold border label and contain 60 fish gelatin softgel dietary supplements. The California Gold Nutrition Women’s Multivitamin and Women’s 50+ Multivitamin both have dark purple packaging with a gold border label and contain 60 capsules in foil inside.
Below are the different units affected and their respective batch codes and expiration dates, which are located on the back of the containers.
California Gold Nutrition Daily Prenatal Multivitamin
- Batch codes: 2307050A, 2404096A, 2411100A
- Expiration dates: 08/2025, 05/2026, 11/2026
California Gold Nutrition Ultamins Women’s Multivitamin
- Batch codes: V0532, V0533
- Expiration dates: 11/2026, 07/2026
California Gold Nutrition Ultamins Women’s 50+ Multivitamin
- Batch codes: V0534, V0536
- Expiration dates: 07/2026, 11/2026
The recall appears to stem from a violation of the Poison Prevention Packaging Act, which requires certain medications (such as those containing iron, like these multivitamins) to have child-resistant packaging. The packaging of the recalled multivitamins is not child-resistant, “posing a risk of deadly poisoning, if the contents are swallowed by young children,” according to the CPSC.
he affected medication was sold online at Amazon, Walmart, Target, and other online retailers from January 2019 through April 2025. While only the bottle itself is being recalled due to safety concerns, the CPSC still recommends against taking the supplements and says to dispose of the product. All known purchasers are being contacted directly regarding the recall by iHerb.
If you find you have the item in your possession, the CPSC advises you to immediately ensure the recalled supplement bottles are out of reach of children. You may also contact iHerb to receive a refund and for information about how to safely discard the packaging and product.
