Lynn Hamilton, the actress who played Donna Harris on the beloved ’70s sitcom Sanford and Son, has died. She was 95.
Hamilton died on Thursday, June 19, of natural causes, her former manager and publicist, Rev. Calvin Carson announced. He added that she was “surrounded by her grandchildren, loved ones and caregivers.”
“With profound gratitude and admiration, we celebrate the extraordinary life of iconic actress Alzenia ‘Lynn’ Hamilton-Jenkins. Her remarkable legacy continues to uplift and inspire,” Carson wrote in his statement. “An illustrious career, spanning over five decades, has left an indelible mark on the world of entertainment. Basically, motivating audiences across the globe through her work as a model, stage, film and television actress.”
Some of Hamilton’s most notable works — aside from her recurring stint as Fred Sanford’s fiancée on Sanford and Son — included her appearances on The Waltons, Roots: The Next Generation, NBC’s Generations and nighttime soap opera Dangerous Women.
Hamilton’s career also included appearances in four Broadway plays in the late ’50s and early ’60s, as well as TV appearances on Curb Your Enthusiasm, Gunsmoke, The Golden Girls, NYPD Blue and beyond.
“Her passing marks the end of an era, but her legacy will continue to inspire and uplift future generations,” Carson wrote on social media.

So, I broke into Drac’s castle and found the missing movies for that day. Actually, OK this is confusing. There is an actual list of all horror movies on Netflix this month. The list is called:

Catherine O’Hara, ‘Home Alone’ and ‘Schitt’s Creek’ Actress, has passed away.
She gained recognition as one of the original cast members on the Canadian television sketch comedy show SCTV (1976). O’Hara stayed with the show for its entirety (1976-1984). She went on to devote her talents to several films directed by Tim Burton, including Beetlejuice (1988), The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) and later, Frankenweenie (2012). O’Hara also frequently collaborated with director and writer, Christopher Guest, appearing in his mockumentary films, three of which earned her awards and nominations, Waiting for Guffman (1996), Best in Show (2000), A Mighty Wind (2003), and For Your Consideration (2006).
Despite her knack for the quirky, Ms. O’Hara’s biggest screen achievement came with the 1990 Christmas film “Home Alone,” directed by Chris Columbus and written by John Hughes. Playing a harried suburban matriarch trying to shepherd her brood on a trip to Paris, she discovers mid-flight that she has forgotten her youngest, Kevin (Macaulay Culkin), who spends the bulk of the film enjoying freedoms rarely granted a child, when not fending off a pair of bumbling burglars.
She had no inkling that the movie would go into heavy rotation for decades as a Yuletide staple.
Ms. O’Hara was earlier cast in “Beetlejuice” (1988), directed by Tim Burton, as Delia Deetz, a sculptor of abstract statues and the clueless stepmother to a misanthropic teenager played by Winona Ryder. That film became a cult favorite, exposing Ms. O’Hara to an audience beyond the niche world of improvisational and sketch comedy, and it set her up for a film and television career that would last for nearly another four decades.
Michael Buble described her as being, “One of a kind. A rare light in this world and her passing hits with a weight I can’t fully put into words.
She wasn’t just a legendary artist, actor and comedian. She was an ambassador for Canada in the truest sense: brilliant, fearless, deeply original, and so full of humanity. She made the world laugh, but she also made people feel seen.
As an artist, she inspired me more than she’ll ever know. She set the bar for what it means to represent your country with excellence and grace and all without ever losing warmth or humility.”
She won a prime-time Emmy in 1982 for writing on “SCTV,” and in 2020 won her first acting Emmy for portraying the reality-challenged Moira Rose on “Schitt’s Creek.” She also won a Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award for that role.
Her survivors include her husband, Bo Welch; her sons, Matthew and Luke; and her siblings, Michael O’Hara, Mary Margaret O’Hara, Maureen Jolley, Marcus O ‘Hara, Tom O’Hara and Patricia Wallice.
Catherine O’Hara died on 30 January in a Los Angeles hospital, at the age of 71 of a pulmonary embolism, her death certificate in the US has revealed.
In addition to the blood clot in her lungs, the death certificate listed rectal cancer as the long-term cause of death. It was indicated that she had been receiving treatment for the cancer since March 2025.
A memorial service will be held privately by the family.
While a rising amount of people are meeting their significant others through online dating, most people would still prefer to do it the old-fashioned way – in person.
Still, that’s easier said than done. The rise in dating apps, and the fear of being publicly rejected, it’s getting harder and harder to meet someone. Also, meeting your possible significant other is almost impossible on line. However, professional dating coach Blaine Anderson is here to help with that.
Anderson recently named three places where you can meet “quality” women in real life.
1. Yoga and Pilates
Indeed, meeting women at the gym can be hard, especially when everyone is working out with headphones in. However, in a group class, it’s easier. Everyone is there for a shared interest and there’s an easy ice breaker. Talk about the class.
Anderson stresses that you shouldn’t be going to these classes with the sole intention of meeting someone. You need to actually want to take the class and see the benefits of it. But they can be a great place to meet someone, too.
2. Co-working spaces
While much of the corporate world is heading back to the office, many people are still working from home – or at co-working spaces – several days a week.
Whether it’s a coffee shop or a WeWork situation, it can be nice to meet someone in a professional setting, while not having to risk dating someone that you actually work with.
3. Volunteering events
From animal shelters to food drives to soup kitchens, there are a ton of great volunteering options out there.
Like the gym classes, you shouldn’t be going to these events with the goal of meeting someone. The volunteer work is the priority, obviously. However, meeting someone with a shared interest of helping the community can be ideal.
Anderson launched her dating coaching business a couple of years ago and has surged up to close to one million followers on social media.
Lake Geneva, Wisconsin is home to some of the most expensive homes in the Midwest. Some date as far back as the Great Chicago fire, when business tycoons like P.K. Wrigley (of the chewing gum Wrigley’s) built mansions on the lake while reconstruction of their Chicago homes destroyed by the Chicago Fire, were completed. After completion, the Lake Geneva homes were used as summer homes, some which are still in the Wrigley family possession today.
On a recent boat tour, I snapped photos of many of these homes, most which would cost between $5-20 million dollars each. Not bad for a summer residence. Here are a few of these beauties:
Wrigley Estates
Stone Manor
Driehaus Estates
Sold for $36 Million, the most in Wisconsin.
Alta Vista
And various other summer homes whose names escape me:
Would you like a million-dollar steamboat at your pier?
If you are ever in the Chicago area, you might enjoy a boat cruise around Lake Geneva, less than 90 miles from downtown Chicago. There are 1 hour, 2-hour, lunch, dinner, sunset cruises and a special mail cruise in the morning featuring actual mail delivery by a very agile young delivery person.
The best part, I think, is all 22 miles around the lake is available to walk on paths provided by the mansion owners, some reluctantly. That’s right, you can walk in back of allof these homes as long as you stay on the path next to the lake.
I don’t imagine P.K. Wrigley would ever have thought it possible, but thanks to the city of Lake Geneva and Walworth County, path walking happens every day.
