September Writing Prompts-Myths

Let’s try something different this September. Write a myth. A myth is a traditional, usually ancient story involving supernatural beings, ancestors, or heroes. It is used to explain aspects of the natural world or to show the psychology, customs, or ideals of a society. Myths exist in every culture across the globe.

Why don’t you write a myth using one of these ideas as inspiration?

Creating Your Own Myth

Retold Myths & Heroes

Icarus Survives: Icarus’s wax wings do not melt, allowing him to fly into celestial realms. He lives!

Modern Pandora: Someone opens Pandora’s Box in a modern, technologically advanced city. Oh, what a surprise!

Oracle’s Mistake: An oracle gives a prophecy that is completely wrong and must fix the chaos that ensues. Oh boy.  Disaster time.

Give Myths a try and let me know how it went.
