Her death in a Los Angeles hospital was confirmed by her mother, Priscilla, a few hours after her daughter was rushed to the hospital after having a medical emergency at home.

“It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us,” Priscilla Presley said in a statement. “She was the most passionate, strong and loving woman I have ever known.”

Presley, the only child of Elvis and Priscilla Presley, shared her father’s brooding charisma — the hooded eyes, the insolent smile, the low, sultry voice — and followed him professionally, releasing her own rock albums in the 2000s, and appearing on stage with Pat Benatar and Richard Hawley among others.

She would later make headlines of her own. Struggles with drugs and some very public marriages. Her four husbands included Michael Jackson and Nicolas Cage.

Cause of death is yet to be determined.

Pope Francis Makes Historic Apology To Canada’s Indigenous People

An official apology by the Pope is a huge step towards reconciliation with Canada’s Indigenous people

As part of the Truth and Reconciliation Act, it called for the Catholic Church to make an official apology to Canada’s Indigenous people for the pain and suffering of Residential schools. In recent years Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also asked Pope Francis to honour the findings of the committee with an apology but he remained non-committal.

In October 2021, the Vatican confirmed the Pope has accepted an invitation from the Canadian Bishops to attend Canada to meet with survivors of Residential Schools. Although the Vatican did not confirm if the Pope will offer an official apology, one would assume it is imminent.

The Pope was set to travel to Canada in 2022 at a date to be determined. Leading up to his visit, the Pope received a group of Indigenous Elders, survivors and community leaders at the beginning of the week which was to set the stage for his inevitable visit.

After days of meeting and listening to the stories of residential school survivors, Pope Francis offered a sincere apology to Canada’s Indigenous community.

“For the deplorable conduct of those members of the Catholic Church, I ask for God’s forgiveness and I want to say to you with all my heart: I am very sorry.  And I join my brothers, the Canadian bishops, in asking your pardon.

“It is chilling to think of determined efforts to instill a sense of inferiority, to rob people of their cultural identity, to sever their roots, and to consider all the personal and social effects that this continues to entail: unresolved traumas that have become intergenerational traumas.

“Without real indignation, without historical memory and without a commitment to learning from past mistakes, problems remain unresolved and keep coming back.  We can see this these days in the case of war.  The memory of the past must never be sacrificed at the altar of alleged progress.”

“Pope Francis’ apology for the Roman Catholic Church’s role in operating residential schools in Canada would not have happened without the advocacy of Survivors. To those who shared their truths, and relived their painful memories with bravery and determination,

“This apology is an important step forward, as we must acknowledge the truth of our past in order to move towards righting historical wrongs. We now look forward to the Pope coming to Canada to deliver the apology in person. Said, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau

Where Is Anna Delvey Now?

Anna Sorokin, the con artist otherwise known as Anna Delvey, is back in the headlines after the release of Netflix’s Inventing Anna. Actress Julia Garner stars as Delvey in the Shonda Rhimes-produced miniseries, which documents the rise and fall of the fake heiress and how she defrauded wealthy friends, banks, hotels, and more.

Delvey was released from prison on good behavior on February 11, 2021 after serving nearly four years. In March 2021, six weeks after her release, she was taken back into custody by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for overstaying her visa, and she remained in ICE custody in upstate New York for a year.

UPDATE:

Immediately after she was released, Sorokin settled her debts. She used a portion of the $320,000 she received from Netflix for the rights to her life story to pay back the $200,000 she owed the banks. She coughed up an additional $25,000 to pay New York state fines. With her debts settled, she checked into the NoMad Hotel in downtown Manhattan and resumed posting glam shots of her post-prison life on Instagram. She gave countless interviews and made a few bold statements about her experience in prison. On Good Morning America, she claimed her time in Rikers was “therapeutic.” She rented an apartment in Manhattan and began promoting a potential new fashion collaboration with former Hood By Air designer Paul Cupo. She checked in with her parole officer regularly. Obviously, she hired a videographer to document her new life.

Unfortunately, it was short-lived.

Why was Anna Sorokin rearrested?

In March 2021, Sorokin was arrested by immigration authorities for overstaying her visa. She had an immigration detainer attached to her name when she was first released from prison, but clearly, she wasn’t in any rush to leave New York. Sorokin was scheduled to be deported back to Germany (Auf Wiedersehen, Anna!) on March 26, but was filing an application for relief, which is essentially legalese for “please don’t make me go back to Germany,” as as a result stayed in custody stateside. Through her lawyer, Audrey Thomas, Sorokin has asked to be granted asylum.

According to court documents reviewed by Esquire, Sorokin applied for asylum based on a “fear of returning to Germany.” Evidently, Sorokin and her family have received numerous threats “due to the media coverage of her crimes” and she fears she will be “retaliated against for embarrassing her country.” Sorokin’s application for asylum was denied in June 2021, but she quickly appealed. Despite her lawyer’s many attempts to get her released on bond while she awaits a final decision on her appeal, Sorokin remained in custody in Orange County Correctional Facility in upstate New York. She tested positive for COVID-19 in January and spent more than a week in quarantine isolation. “I’m sure I’ll live, but I haven’t been this sick in years,” wrote Sorokin in an article published by Insider.

Did Anna Sorokin Get Deported?

Not yet! Sorokin was supposed to board a flight bound to Frankfurt on Monday night, but the deportation failed at the last minute when, according to the New York Post, she just, like, didn’t show up to the airport. Sorokin’s lawyer, Manny Arora, has since said that her failure to appear was most likely caused by the motion he filed late on Monday afternoon to stay the deportation. Evidently, a judge needs to make an official decision on that matter before Sorokin can be deported. “Until we get a ruling from the appeal to stay the deportation, there won’t be much else to report,” explained Arora.

So consider it one of those rare instances when missing a flight is actually a good thing, because if there’s one thing we know for sure, it’s that the fake heiress really doesn’t want to return to Germany.

Bob Saget’s family granted permanent injunction

Bob Saget’s family has been given a permanent injunction to block the release of records linked to his death.

The actor passed away on January 9, at the age of 65, and his family has now been granted a permanent injunction by Ninth Judicial Circuit Judge Vincent Chiu.

In a statement obtained by People, Brian Bieber – the Saget family’s attorney – explained: “The entire Saget family is grateful that the judge granted their request for an injunction to preserve Bob’s dignity, as well as their privacy rights, especially after suffering this unexpected and tragic loss.”

The ‘Full House’ star was found dead in his Florida hotel room in January and his family previously said that he died from head trauma.

Following his death, Kelly Rizzo, the actor’s widow, and their three daughters – Aubrey, Lara and Jennifer Saget – launched legal action against Orange County Sheriff John Mina and the District Nine Medical Examiner’s Office in a bid to stop photographs or videos related to the investigation from being released.

Attorneys representing the family claimed they would “suffer irreparable harm in the form of extreme mental pain, anguish, and emotional distress” if the records were made public.

Bieber said at the time: “In order to protect the Saget family’s privacy, today on their behalf, I filed for an injunction to prevent the disclosure of any photographs or videos of Mr. Saget made by the authorities during their investigation.”

The attorney accepted that the “facts of the investigation should be made public”. However, he called for any materials collected during the investigation to “remain private out of respect for the dignity of Mr. Saget and his family”.

He added: “It’s very simple – from a human and legal standpoint – the Saget family’s privacy rights outweigh any public interest in disclosure of this sensitive information.”

(I think this is the end of the line for this story. Are you convinced all relevant facts have been disclosed?)

Shane Warne dies aged 52

Shane Warne has died at the age of 52.

The Australian cricket legend has tragically passed away in Koh Samui, Thailand, following a suspected heart attack.

A statement released from Warne’s family said: “Shane was found unresponsive in his villa and despite the best efforts of medical staff, he could not be revived.

“The family request privacy at this time and will provide further details in due course.”

Warne represented Australia between 1992 and 2007 and is widely regarded as one of the sport’s greatest bowlers having taken 708 test wickets – the most by an Australian player and only behind Sri Lankan Muttiah Muralitharan on the all-time list.

The sports star helped his country win the Cricket World Cup in 1999 and was also part of five Ashes-winning sides.

As well as his international career, Warne played domestic cricket for his home state of Victoria and also represented Hampshire in the county game for England.

Following his retirement from cricket in 2007, Warne moved into TV punditry and featured on Australia’s Nine Network and on Sky Sports in the UK.

His career was blighted by scandals away from the field including marital infidelities and a ban from cricket for testing positive for a banned substance.

Shane leaves behind three children – daughters Brooke, 24, and Summer, 20, and son Jackson 22, who he shares with his ex-wife Simone Callahan.

The cricket legend was also engaged to English actress Liz Hurley between 2010 and 2013.

(I posted this as a Mea Copa to my Australian viewers for a lack of Aussy content. I visited Sydney some 50 years ago as my R & R vacation from the conflict in Vietnam. Great city, wonderful people).

What Really Happened to Bob Saget? New Details on His Final Hours

When Bob Saget checked into room 962 at the Ritz-Carlton Orlando Grande Lakes in Florida on Jan. 7, the 65-year-old comedian seemed to have the vitality of a man half his age.

“He was cracking jokes, waving to people in the lobby,” a hotel employee tells PEOPLE in this week’s issue. “When people asked for selfies, he would run over and grab their phones to take the pictures with them, joking the whole time. He was a ball happy, positive energy.”

But by the time the weekend was over, Saget was found dead in his hotel room bed on Jan. 9, raising many questions on how the beloved actor could have died so suddenly.

The mystery deepened when Chief Medical Examiner Joshua Stephany, MD later revealed in the autopsy that Saget’s death was “the result of blunt head trauma,” ruling the manner of his passing an accident not tied to any illicit drugs or toxins. Additionally, the comedian’s autopsy indicated he had severe fractures to the back of his head and around his eyes when he died.

PEOPLE spoke with several involved in the investigation of Saget’s death. “It’s definitely an unusual case,” an Orange County Sheriff’s deputy says. “There are still a lot of unanswered questions.”

The last time Saget was caught on surveillance video, he was seen exiting the elevator of the ninth floor and walking down the long hallway towards his room. Authorities who have seen the footage tell PEOPLE that nothing seemed out of the ordinary: Saget showed no sign of distress.

Using his key card, Saget entered his room at 2:17 a.m., hanging a “Do Not Disturb” placard on his doorknob and locking the door from the inside. The door didn’t open again until the following afternoon when hotel security found him dead.

Now, investigators have pieced together a theory of how Saget died.

Authorities checked the marble end tables and counters in the bathroom, but found no traces of blood or hair. Now, they believe that Saget lost consciousness in the bathroom and fell backward onto the marble floor, striking his head.

Police believe that a groggy Saget regained consciousness and stumbled into bed, where he again lost consciousness and died. His time of death was estimated to be around 4:00 am, approximately 12 hours before his body was found.

As police move towards closing the investigation into Saget’s death, those close to the actor are choosing to focus on the fond memories they had with him.

“We all want to keep Bob’s legacy alive,” his Full House costar Candace Cameron Bure tells PEOPLE. “I want to share things about Bob and share about the laughs and the good times. That part feels comforting.”

Here is the latest cause of death:

Bob Saget’s Autopsy Report Reveals Skull Fractures Typically Seen in “High-Force Injuries”

A little over a month after Bob Saget tragically passed away at the age of 65 in a Florida hotel room, we finally have a clearer picture as to how exactly he died — and the answer is a harrowing reminder of just how serious head injuries can be.

Saget’s death was ruled an accident resulting from blunt force head trauma. Investigators believe he likely experienced an “unwitnessed fall backwards” in his hotel room and then, perhaps confused due to the blow to the head or simply unaware of how severely he had injured himself, he went to bed and died in his sleep.

However, the autopsy findings reveal that this was no ordinary bump on the head. The comedian suffered multiple skull fractures and brain bleeds. As People reports, Saget’s injuries included “posterior scalp abrasions, subgaleal hemorrhage (blood that forms between the skull and scalp), discoloration in the upper and lower eyelids due to skull fracture, subdural hematoma (buildup of blood on the surface of the brain), and subarachnoid hemorrhage (bleeding in the space surrounding the brain).” Damage to his skull included fractures above his eye sockets.

The severity of those injuries has led many to wonder whether it’s really possible to suffer that much damage by simply, say, slipping in the bathroom and hitting your head on the floor. Many doctors — none of whom, it must be stressed, actually examined Saget themselves — expressed surprise, likening his wounds to those one might sustain in a car crash or by being hit in the head with a baseball bat.

Naturally, all of this speculation has raised questions over whether investigators failed to pick up on some sign of foul play. The chatter got so bad that over the weekend that the Orange County Sheriff’s Department took to social media to reiterate that they don’t believe Saget was murdered. Sheriff John Mina said that there were no signs of a struggle and noted that the comedian’s injuries were most likely sustained when he fell and hit the back of his head on a hard surface — most likely the bathroom floor or tub. “We do not believe he was struck by anything,” he said.

It’s easy to latch onto conspiracy theories, but the sad reality is that accidents like Saget’s are far too common, and it’s important to remember that head trauma is no joke. If you fall and/or hit your head, it’s crucial that you use an abundance of caution and seek medical treatment if necessary. It’s always a good idea to get checked out after a head injury, but doctors recommend going to the ER immediately if you experience blurred vision, a severe headache, nausea or vomiting, or stroke-like symptoms following a blow to the head.

(I don’t think this story is going away any time soon. His loyal fans from all his sit-coms are demanding truthful answers. Stay tuned for an update.)
